I know the title Brütal Legend doesn’t really say or explain anything about the game itself, BUT let me tell you, this game is simply awesome or even brütal you might say. Ok, so picture the combat gameplay of God of War, now the driving and open world of GTA, the real-time strategic battles of Warcraft, the humor of the Monkey Island games and mesh that all up in a medieval fantasy-esque HEAVY METAL setting. You get Brütal Legend. That’s right I said that right, HEAVY METAL as in the music, lifestyle and all that. For some people, those last 2 sentences are completely ridiculous. For people like me, well that is like some kind of awesome shishkebab.

So you play the character of Eddie Riggs played by none other than Jack Black and no he isn’t the rockstar. He is just a roadie, probably the best in the business. This guy can fix almost anything and he firmly believes in doing his job well, staying out of the spotlight and just simply making sure nothing bad happens to the band or the show. The thing is, he is a roadie to a tween “metal” band that would make the jonas brother’s look like metallica.

Ok that’s a lie but compared to the other people in the game, the band (Named “Kabbage Boy”) that he is working for are pussies. He feels out of place and that he should have been born a few decades earlier where metal was “purer” so then all of sudden a freak accident happens on stage in which he decides to sacrifice his life to save the band and somehow the stage became alive, killed everyone and all of sudden he is transported to some kind of heavy metal fantasy world in which he fights with 2 axes. (One of them being an actual axe and the other his guitar ,Clementine.)

Okay that doesn’t really make sense but it is how the game executes them in thier cutscenes and making them quite funny as well. And honestly i dont really care how it was set up because the story is simply ridiculous and it does stay true to it. Although i am not like really into metal, this game certainly sparked some interest in me and the soundtrack is real awesome. From Diamond Head, Motley Crue to Judas Priest. Sometimes, it’s just nice to just sit in the Druid Plow and just listen to the radio.

Of course like any good medieval fantasy games, there are 3 warring factions. “Ironheade” is Eddie Riggs faction and represents the traditional side of heavy metal, complete with headbangers for foot soldiers, “Razor Girls” for your range units and even gigantic bouncers with huge fists.

The 2nd faction are called the “Drowning Doom”. (SPOILERS) Led by Ophelia, these sad motherfuckers represent the gothic, black metal and stuff like that in which every thing is dark & gloomy. The soldiers of The Drowning Doom army consist of humans who drank from the Sea of Black Tears which basically takes thier will to live in exchange for power. With units like the Bride who walks around with literally a storm cloud hanging over her head.

The last faction are basically the bad guys. The Demons like to call themselves “The Tainted Coil”. Although they don’t really represent any particular sub-culture of metal, they are simply everything demonic and hellish about metal. Led by Emperor Doviculus, their ultimate goal in life is to conquer the world, is that really too much to ask?

Other than Jack Black, Brütal Legend has quite a star-studded cast. Lemmy Kilmister, Bassist and Vocals of Motorhead is the Kill Master in the game. He is Ironheade’s medic unit and he literally heals with by playing his bass.

Ozzy Osbourne AKA “The Guardian of Metal” is probably the best merchant in a game i have ever come across. You have to drive to the center of the planet just to get to him and he serenades you with his salesman-esque pitch to get you to buy his upgrades.

Rob Halford of Judas Priest plays a total of 2 Characters, first being The Baron, the leader of the Fire Barons, the bike gang under Ironheade (Which is a kick ass unit btw) and General Lionwhyte, leader of the Glam and hair metal dudes. Humans who serve the Emperor Doviculus and his Tainted Coil. As The Baron he leaves a trail of fire every where he rides while as Lionwhyte, he flies with his hair.

All in all, Brutal Legend is real good game, while it isn’t the perfect game, It sure does a lot of things right. The mix match of genres, the Metal concept of the world is extremely innovative. I was certainly impressed by the story and execution of the game. I’ll just leave you with a video interview with some of the metal gods in the game.

Obviously I’m kidding, any Marvel fan worth his salt knows Deadpool in one way or another. Ok this guy is well erm probably one of the most popular dudes in comic books, sure he may have started as a kind of a rip off of Deathstroke from DC

I would like to share with you guys his origin story but trust me it ain’t that interesting, so I’ll sum it up. Parents died, got kicked out of the Military, became a Mercenary, quit, became a Merc again, contracted cancer, quit being a merc, joined the Weapon X program which gave him his regeneration which also “cured” his cancer, got out from Weapon X and became a Merc again.

Powers / Abillities

Regenerative Healing Factor: Deadpool has the same regeneration powers as Wolverine. He is able to heal injuries such as slashes, puncture wounds, bullet wounds, and severe burns within moments. His healing factor is developed to the point that he can regrow missing limbs and organs. HOWEVER, when he was given this power, it bounded to his cancer so in a sense, HIS CANCER GIVES HIM HIS REGENERATION. Which also means his body is constantly in a weird flux, Healing and dieing at the same time making his body horribly scarred.

Immortality: Okay this is kind of hard to explain. You probably think that the reason he is immortal is due to his regeneration, well no. The real reason why he is immortal is because he had a relationship with Death. How many characters do you know had A FRICKING RELATIONSHIP WITH DEATH AS IN THE REAL GRIM REAPER. Oh ya he was also cursed by one of his greatest enemies to never die. So he is both blessed and cursed to never meet his lover. In an alternate timeline, Deadpool accidentally locked himself in a fridge for 800 years.

Telepathic Immunity: His “healing cancer” causes  his brain to be in a constant flux or healing and killing itself so he is immune to all forms of mind control from telepaths such as Proffessor X.

Peak human Strength: Deadpool possesses great, though not unnatural, physical strength. He does have at least the strength of an Olympic level weightlifter. He is capable of lifting at least 420 lbs but no more than 800 lbs.

Superhuman Stamina: Deadpool’s physique produces less fatigue toxins than the muscles of an ordinary human being, granting him superhuman levels of stamina in all physical activities. He can physically exert himself at peak capacity for several days fatigue begins to impair him.

Superhuman Agility: Deadpool’s agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete.

Superhuman Reflexes: His reflexes are similarly enhanced, superior to those of even the finest human athlete.

Disease Immunity: The unique regenerative qualities of Deadpool’s healing factor also extends to his Immune System, rendering him immune to the effects of all known diseases and infections.

Other abillities: Deadpool is one of the best combatants in the Marvel Universe. He is a master of multiple unarmed combat techniques, assassination, a master marksman and highly skilled with bladed weapons. He is also fluent in Japanese, German, Spanish, amongst other languages.

Equipment: Teleportation device, which he uses mainly to teleport himself out of into trouble or fights.Deadpool uses guns, grenades, sais, knives, and katanas. He can also use any weapon known to man and learn how to use the weapon in less than 5 minutes.

Yellow Speech Bubbles: Deadpool is the only character in the whole of  Marvel who speaks in yellow speech bubbles. It has somehow became his tradmark just like how he is fully aware that he is a comic book character and breaks the fourth wall as often as me turning on my PS3.

As you guys can probably see, this Deadpool’s a smart ass and a real funny character in fact probably the funniest comic book character out there.

Ok so well, in short, Deadpool is one of my favourite characters. His mere existence is such joke, you can never take him seriously well he is just based on loose canon.

I would love to review MUA2 but it’s been so long since it’s so long since the release date that if you wanted a review, you should read giantbomb’s review.

In my opinion, the game has a lot of missed opportunities. They could have done so much more but instead they literally took the first game, added some paint and tweaked the story a lil bit. Of course none of it is bad but i expected a bit more. One minor problem that i have about this game is how inaccurate or wrong the game can be in terms of logic. For example, the first boss battle places the team of Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wolverine and Nick Fury against Electro. Although Electro isn’t some weak sauce, he is obviously  not strong enough to even last a few seconds with all those dudes. This game is real shitty on letting you feel like you’re a superhero. Games like InFamous and Prototype managed to pull that off a whole lot better than MUA2. I found the story quite enjoyable. Starting off from the Secret War arc and then leading in to The Civil War.

If you’re lazy to click that link to read what the Civil War is, well it’s basically erm, a civil war, between the superheroes that is. The government decides to pass a new law, The Superhero Registration Act (SRA). This divides the superhero community and 2 sides emerge; the Anti-Reg forces led by Captain America and the Pro-Reg forces led by Iron-Man. If you’re wondering what is the Secret War, well it’s basically Nick  Fury convincing a bunch of dudes in invading Latveria without the Government or US president knowing.

Adriel, Hanis and Wesley were at my house a few days back. Unfortunately, i only have 3 controllers so were not able to play with 4 people. So there I was controlling the good ol’ Cap, Hanis being the usual jackass as Spidey swinging around the screen while the rest of us are fighting for our lives, Iron Man Adriel is somehow lagging behind even though he can fly. Ok i guess it’s not really thier fault but I am quite an anal perfectionist when playing video games. BUT HANIS WAS LITERALLY THROWING WOLVERINE TO A WALL FOR NO REASON. So then we had to change the team so I picked Daredevil, Hanis choosing Iceman while Adriel picked The Human Torch leaving our forth member to be the Thing. Well to no surprise, Hanis started ice surfing around and around for no reason and Adriel was throwing fireballs at anything on the screen. Then Wesley joined in the fun and the time to fight the first boss came. SURPRISINGLY, Wesley lasted the longest during the fight, even though he just started playing it while The Human Torch and Iceman had quite some time to practice.

Ok sorry for the diss guys, but really MUA2 is a real fun game to play coop with your friends no matter how stupid or uncooperative they are. Im sorry but i am such a perfectionist in a video game. I just have to play it like it’s meant to be played

All of sudden, I had a sick feeling in my stomach. Disney announced they’ll be purchasing Marvel Comics in a deal worth approximately $4 billion. (This is all pending FTC and shareholder approval) Immediately images of Spiderman singing alongside Hannah Montana flashed through my mind. Sick, i know.

I love Marvel, I love thier comics and characters. I cannot say the same of Disney though. Ok sure, something like this has happened before such as Warner Bros buying DC comics but that didn’t have that “OMFG END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT” feel and honestly I don’t like DC that much. First impressions aside, I began to think. What kind of ramifications and impact will this have? Now it has been a week or so since the first announcement and I have tried to make sense of all this and really think this through.

POSITIVE

• 4 billion bucks is a lot of money. Thats like 4 thousand million or 4,000,000,000. This means Marvel is pretty much all set financially.
• Marvel will keep its name and allowed to keep as a seperate brand from Disney. confirmed by Disney CEO Robert A. Iger
• It will follow the WB and DC dynamics in which the Marvel editorial will remain mostly independant from the Disney board of directors.
• Which also means those Disney guys can’t just make them do a High Marvel Musical.
• Disney is an Empire. They have publishers, theme parks, TV channels like ABC and all sorts of other connections and I am sure they can help Marvel with thier distribution in various ways.
• Most of what Marvel has out now won’t change. (including comics, movies and games in production)
• A general theme so far seems to be that Disney doesn’t wish to violate any pre-existing agreements on either end.

NEGATIVE

• Marvel is now owned by a huge corporation. (That always ends up bad)
• There is still a chance that Disney might just throw Jack Sparrow,  Jack Shepard, Donald Duck and The Hulk in the same steaming pile of ape shit.
• Marvel would probably have to add their label on Disney’s comics/books
• Marvel Studios will be swallowed up and working alongside other Disney bitches studios such as Pixar.

Okay as you can see, the positve points actually outweigh the negative point so maybe it ain’t so bad after all but that is of course if Disney keeps thier word and not fuck us all up in the butt.

How I think the transaction probably went down.

So here I am, watching it. It’s exactly 2 minutes and 28 seconds and I realized one of the probable reasons for his liking this movie was because Kristen Bell was in it. (We know her better as Elle from Heroes.)  That aside, I would say the movie, as far as flicks go, is slightly above expectations.

Watching it, knowing it was a flick with a fresh cast I made conscious effort not to take the movie too seriously. Truth is I didn’t have to. The script was believable and doesn’t require a whole load of comical suspension of disbelief. The characters were relatable, specifically the ‘geek talk’.

The downside is that although a rather general based comedy, there still remains a small chance you might not be able to fully appreciate the movie if you’ve never been somewhat of a geek, at any point of your life. I personally believe most, if not all of us have been down that road, some still on the road. Then again, hey, you’re on the Visible Strand, so hello geek.

Seth Rogan makes multiple appearances in film as about three different characters and he doesn’t fail to deliver, as always.

To sum it up, Fan Boys is not the movie for you if you’re looking for spectacular film art or award-winning heartfelt scripts. The drama is minimal and the movie places more focus on the plot itself as well as joining the scenes together smoothly. You’ll be able to get through this one with ease.

This is a movie served best with chips on a cool week night or whilst kicking back on a slow Saturday afternoon.

On a side note, if you are a total balls out geek, all the more, catch this movie. While it perhaps aims to encourage teenagers to go all out for their dreams, because of the reduced drama elements, it doesn’t do that very well. The emphasis and focus is placed on the comedy and story flow. But like I said, if you’re a geek, this is a movie to watch. It gives you hope, well, in the area of fantasy.

Hot girl, knows her comics and whatnot, and did i say hot. Yes the stereotype geek with big, thick glasses gets her.

Go for your dreams geek boy. May the force be with you. I leave you with Kristen Bell, IN COSTUME OMFGX GEEK LIKEY.   Okay I should never, ever do that again.

Jack’s take on Fanboys :

Ok I’m gonna be straight with you guys, I am a Star Wars geek. Probably the biggest on this island. From the back of my head I can tell you the height of every clone trooper (1.78m), the name of Darth Vader’s personal legion and Star Destroyer (501st Legion), the exact date when the 1st Star Wars movie was released and even the acronym of “R2-D2″ actually means.

After all that has been said, I extremely enjoyed this movie. It’s like up among the top ten in my list. Ok back to the story, the year is 1999 and Episode 1 is about to be released. A bunch of real hardcore nerds hatch up a plan to break in Skywalker ranch to steal a draft of the movie 6 months prior to release. Yes the plot sounds pretty stupid but the geekiness of it all made up for everything. From the iconic yellow text crawl to the really heated match of Mario Kart and Hutch’s pathetic attempts Jedi mind tricks to take off girl’s top. Of course the movie holds up pretty well as a dumb comedy with the a few cliche jokes such as a gaybar or the quirky cute girl(KRISTEN BELL OMG OMG) that falls in love with the loser.

One thing that I really enjoyed that the movie brought up was the Star Trek/Star Wars rivalry. I’m obviously part of the Star Wars camp and the scenes that displayed this rivalry are my absolute favorite.

“Get out of here, you Kirk-loving spock suckers!” immediately set the tone of the film.

Even to the point of street fight breaking out among the two parties (which started when the Trekkies called Han Solo a bitch) in which resulted in Spock’s annoying pointy ear being bitten off. To top it all off, the nerds are assisted by Captain James T Kirk himself (William Shatner) for the raid, such a backhanded slap to the Trekkies

The inside jokes are just awesome and it is very possible that most people wont get them but being the fanboy that I am, I swallowed it all up. There were many lines taken directly from the Star Wars Trilogy but used in Alderaan places.(Get it?) The actors who played Princess Leia, Lando Calrissian and even Darth Maul made cameo appearances as a doctor, judge, security guard respectively. The uniforms of the security themselves were the same costumes used in George Lucas’ films before Star Wars. Heck even the look of the character, Windows, were made to look similar to George Lucas.

In the end, I just have to say that this movie can only be truly enjoyed by a fanboy like myself although you normal people can still watch it as just a no-brainer comedy you probably still need a fanboy to guide you along. Oh yeah, at different points during the movie, the nerds were asked various questions about Star Wars to test thier knowledge and I got them all right. WHICH PROVES, i am a Fanboy.

Did we mention Kristen Bell is in it? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA  (nerdgasm)

Hanis Jazil a.k.a H. Shuriken’s take on the movie:

oh. He hasn’t watched it. He’s been gone too long. Playing WOW. if you have the nerve to ask me what WOW means then get out of this website. Go boy go.

No, I don’t play.

District 9 nets a 8.7/10 on IMDB and rather quickly secures a place on the site’s top 250 movies of all time and on the same tier as renowned titles such as ‘The matrix’, ‘ Forrest Gump’ , ‘ American History X’ and ‘ Memento ‘.

It isn’t everyday that a movie gets a place at the top 250 list on IMDB, especially since it was released only recently.

One wonders, what qualifies this film a place along with some of the greatest films ever made.

We’ll soon find out.

About the director, Neill Blomkamp:

In 2007, Blomkamp directed a trilogy of live-action short films (known collectively as Landfall) set in the Halo universe, to promote the release of Halo 3. In 2008, Halo: Combat, the second of the three installments, won the Cannes Lions 2008—Film Lions Grand Prix.

Blomkamp was then slated to direct his first feature-length film, an adaptation of the Halo video game, before funding for that film collapsed. Peter Jackson, the producer of that project, then decided to produce District 9 instead, an adaptation of Blomkamp’s earlier short film Alive in Joburg, which had been produced by Hansen and Copley. The film, directed by Blomkamp and starring Copley, was released in mid-August 2009, to rave reviews.

Ok. The first time I played GTA was probably back in erm.. 1999-2000? My brother had bought the first 2-D GTA which had the top down view on the PC. That game had minimal story elements but it was fun as hell. Jacking cars, shooting random people and running away from the cops in 2-D never felt that fun. Of course that top down view had it’s limitations. Imagine you’re in an absolutely crazy high speed chase with like 5 cop cars, only to crash because you can’t see what’s in front of you because you only can see the world from the top. Sure there were missions that you could take from phone booths and all that but at that time i didn’t really care. Driving around hitting pedestrians and jacking nice looking cars were fun enough. Heck i still remember the name of a car i obsessively tried to jack everytime i saw it; The Porka Turbo.

Ok, now Im going to skip GTA III and GTA Vice City to my favourite Grand Theft Auto; Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

So there i was, starting secondary school. I had been playing my recently bought PS2. At that time, i had only 2 games; WWE Smackdown VS Raw and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. WWE SvR was fun and all that but the other game really overwhelmed me.

In terms of gameplay, GTA: San Andreas is extremely fun and addictive. Car jacking & killing people aside, you can do so much more as well. Working out at the gym to get thinner and fitter, stuffing your face at a fast-food restaurant till you puke, go swimming, visit the friendly neighbourhood strip club, fuck a prostitute, cut your hair, dance at a club, Fight gang wars, Collecting seashells/horseshoes, getting photo opportunities, spray tagging, sky diving, plant satchel charges on people, gamble in a casino, play pool, Basketball, Fight and train in gyms and learn Boxing/Martial Arts/ KickBoxing, go out on dates, Fly around in a jetpack, Illigal street race, Buy weapons and clothes, set random people on fire and THEN put them out, base-jumping or just running through the streets in a Rhino Tank or/and in boxers. There are actually quite a lot more things to do and a lot of it has some depth to them. There were so many things to do that anyone who managed to complete 100% was a hero, without cheating of course. (which you are rewarded with unlimited ammo, a fighter jet and a tank at your home).

Now, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is one mean piece of work. GTA III took place in the fictional city of Liberty City based on New York CIty. GTA: Vice City took place in Vice City based on Miami Vice. GTA: San Andreas however is based on the California-esque fictional state of San Andreas, consisting of the fictional cities of Los Santos (Los Angeles), San Fierro (San Diego & San Francisco) and lastly Las Venturas (Las Vegas). They managed to put in so much in that game yet make it meaningful. The countryside, the desert, the forests, the cities, the suburbs, the small little towns, the water, underwater caves, heck there’s even a restricted military base in the middle of an unnamed region of desert. Each city has a different feel, vibe, lighting, structure and people.

Ok i can go on forever but it’s about time i talk about the story elements of the game.

“Five years ago Carl Johnson escaped from the pressures of life in his hometown, Los Santos, San Andreas. Now, it’s the early 90s, and he’s got to go home. His mother has been murdered, his family has fallen apart and his childhood friends are all heading towards disaster. On his return to the neighborhood, a couple of corrupt cops frame him for homicide. CJ is forced on a journey that takes him across the entire state of San Andreas, to save his family and take control of the streets.” an exerpt from the GTA wikia. Yes that sounds like a generic plot for some generic gangster movie but the whole presentation of it is impeccable. The cast of characters are probably the most interesting bunch of people i have ever seen a game.

CJ starts off as your usual everyday man and the younger brother of “Sweet” Sean Johnson, the “oh so traditional, gruff & grizzled” leader of the Grove Street Families (your gang). CJ’s sister, Kendl, dates the mexican Cesar Vialpando of the Varrios Los Aztecas who just loves cars,racing and he never seems to get the “Does the Pope shit  in the woods?” joke. Of course the thought of “a Mexican gang leader dating my black sister” doesn’t sit so well with good ol’ Sweet .

Ryder, one of CJ’s childhood friends is a short, sherm, cap and sunglass wearing loving prick who just loves to shit on CJ’s shitty driving skills. Sure he maybe an asshole but he immediately becomes one of the most likeable characters, after all he is the motherfucking genius he always claims to be. Big Smoke, another one of the lieutenants and close friends. He may seem like the most loveable fat funny guy (aren’t they all?) but every now and then he will say something real deep which hints subtlely at the incredible plot twist later on

Officer Frank Tenpenny: dirty cop, department head of C.R.A.S.H (Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums),antagonistic evil dick head and arrogant as fuck. He can shit on you from such a height, you would think God himself just crapped on you.  This motherfucker is essentially the cause of every single bad thing happening in CJ’s and he is voiced by none other than Samuel L-motherfucking-Jackson.

It is out there

There’s also this paranoid anti-government hippie who calls himself “The Truth” who owns a van called the “Mothership” that’s running on a rubberband engine and cooking oil. Did i mention he sends CJ to steal a $10,000,000,000 jet pack in side a heavily guarded unnamed military base so that CJ can steal a vial of green goo of a moving train?

Eventually you’ll meet this extremely lucky triad boss in a street race. The thing is he’s blind. Yes he raced with CJ. Surprsingly he is one of the calmest characters in the game, hey if i was a blind chinese triad leader i would be one pissed off gruff motherfucker. Ever been beaten in a video game by a blind chinese triad leader? CJ has.

ZERO FTW

Have you ever hated someone? Hated someone so bad that you wanted that someone dead? Now imagine that you’re that someone and that you are the nerdiest asshole you know. Got that in your mind? Now that’s Zero for you. Zero (David Cross) here is a 28 year old virgin, electronics expert and hobbyist who owns Zero RC (A toy shop) in San Fierro. His rival and arch enemy, Berkley is hell bent on killing or making Zero’s life miserable. What pushed Berkley to that point? Did Zero beat up Berkley? No. Did Zero steal Berkley’s girlfriend? No. Did Zero beat Berkley in the Science Fair? FUCK YES.

Why do I love Mike Toreno?

Now for my favourite character, Mike Toreno (James Woods) is an undercover agent from a secret government agency who disguises himself as the leader of the drug ring called “The Loco Syndicate”. At the start he just seems like the usual tough and “no bullshit” kind of person but he’s true personality comes out after CJ takes down the syndicate. Toreno sees that CJ has a lot of potential and is good at getting shit done, so he decides to make CJ do some dirty work for him. Of course CJ doesn’t anything to do with the government but Toreno uses his imprisoned brother as a bargaining chip. Now the stuff he makes CJ do isn’t a walk in the park; killing other government agents, buying an airfield, going on a moving plane on a bike and even stealing a fighter jet from a Navy carrier for no reason. Throughout all those missions, the stuff he says are just golden.

Sure there are some other interesting characters such as pussy wannabe rapper OG Loc, Madd Dog a washed up rapper voiced by Ice-T. The 2 brits, Kent Paul (he’s that rocker dude in Vice City) and Maccer who has serious problem in refraining himself from masturbating furiously. Lazlow the DJ who has been in almost all the GTAs still has his own talk radio show segment on WCTR (comedic gold btw). Rosenberg, the lawyer who helps out Tommy Vercetti inVice City, is still his paranoid self.

Overall, GTA San Andreas is a real good game and it never gets old. I have been playing that game for about 3-4 years now and I still have fun. For anyone who hasnt played it before, i strongly suggest you get it on PC or something because no one should miss out something this good. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare; The Nuclear Explosion

Put yourself in the boots of Sgt. Paul Jackson (The Player Character). He has hauled his ass all over this war torn unnamed middle eastern country. So he gets on a heli thinking he’s all safe and a friendly chopper in front of him get shot down so he decides to be the selfless hero he is and decides to save the pilot who survived. Some stuff happens and then he manages to save the pilot and all of sudden BOOM!

The reason why this scene is so epic to me was that i DID NOT see that coming at all. I played previous Call of Duty games and similar situations like these would pop up but things would always end up fine. Unfortunately for Sgt. Paul Jackson, he wasn’t in those previous games. Previous missions had me using Sgt. Paul Jackson and another soldier; “Soap” MacTavish and by the end of the game i felt attached to them.  Not many games out there actually have “YOU” dieing so when it happened it was like getting bitch slapped. Nonetheless, the build up and the explosion was awesome. Just another example why Call of Duty 4 was such a good game. I will be looking forward to the sequel Modern Warfare 2.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed; Starkiller bringing down a Star Destroyer.

Dude. When i saw this, i almost came. like seriously. Remember that time when Luke Skywalker tried pulling an X-Wing Fighter (Small fighter jet) out from the swamp and failed? Well this guy pulled a Star Destroyer (Gigantic space battle ship) out of orbit, so suck on that Skywalker. Now I guess that you know how big of a Star wars fan I am so i was pretty excited to get this game, just to see this happening. It was worth it. I can’t really say anything much. Just awesome in my eyes. Goddamn speechless. My jaw was the ground floor and my house is on the 4th floor.

Resident Evil was a real good game. The story was great and all that but to me this was an awesome high point. The basic premise is; Two guys who trained together in the military become good friends and all that bullshit  until one of them splits off to be evil(guy in beret) and kidnap the president’s daughter and the other guy(Leon S Kennedy) has to find her. Oh ya, there’s a mysterious woman in hot red dress saving Leon’s ass every now and then. Done.

InFamous; Ending Cutscene

Before i say anything, I really enjoy thier comic-style of thier cutscenes. It was literally like watching a Comic book in motion. InFamous is awesome. Simply put, it’s a comic book superhero game. I love it. In fact, I recommend you to watch every single cutscene on YouTube. Random bike messenger dude (Cole McGrath) wakes up after accidently triggering an explosion and he realizes he has a variety of electrical based powers. Typical superhero comic book start.

The ending of this game fucked my mind badly. So bad that i sat there for about 10 minutes just contemplating the end and what it meant to Cole. Just to give you a heads up, Kessler’s the bad guy. He is the guy the caused everything from the Ray Sphere (The bomb that triggered the Explosion) and to Cole’s existence. Kessler made Cole’s life hell by terrorizing the citizens of Empire City and even brutally murdered Cole’s girlfriend (Trish) by making him decide to save a bunch of doctors or her in which either choice results in her being killed. Messed up, I know. So in the ending you find that Kessler IS Cole and he did all of this for a greater good. Ok first of all im sorry because to truly appreciate the implications of the ending, you need to have played the game and trying to translate it text is extremely hard. Anyway the ending blew my fucking mind and my wad.

METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF PATRIOTS; RAIDEN VS VAMP and Almost All of it’s cutscenes.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is one of the best games i have ever played. In fact this game almost dehydrated me mainly due to it’s long ass cut scenes. The game is around 50:50 gameplay to cutscenes. Watch a  20min cutscene, do some mission, watch another 20min cutscene then boss battle. I know the sounds like a disaster but the story was extremely good. I cant really give you a summary of the whole story as it is extremely complicated, so ill just explain to you the premise of the epic moments. Honestly that game has so many set pieces i couldn’t find all of them on You Tube.

As ridiculous as the caption sounds, that is what happened. 2 guys who can’t die fight with swords and knives. Epic, i know. The thing that added an extra punch to it was the game was quite realistic in the first few missions and when I got to this point everything was thrown out the window. Raiden was the main character of Metal Gear Solid 2 and basically was a pussy that couldn’t do anything unless Snake was there holding his limp hand. Vamp was a mysterious vampire-like villain in the same game so it is safe to say that these guys love each other a lot. In the events between MGS2 and MGS4, Raiden got turned into a Cyborg Ninja badass so in MGS4, Snake is old and Raiden decides to return the favor by saving his old ass from Geckos which is like some freaky 2 legged bio tanks that moo like cows. During that saving process, Raiden comes across Vamp so they decide to engage in a duel that is like snipped out from an anime but 3D HD.

Yes that image is in splitscreen. It was splitscreen in the game too. When i was at this part of the game, i was torn. Torn between watching the crazy fight on the right and trying to keep the Suicide Geckos that were trying to interrupt the fight at bay. It was a real crazy fight on both ends and honestly this is the first time i have ever seen a cutscene and gameplay on a splitscreen at the same time. Needless to say, the Raiden and Vamp fight was epic but the added implication of me fighting all those weird mooing mechs was just orgasmic to me.

Solid Snake In the Microwave tunnel.

The core story of MGS4 is still Solid Snake, a clone of a legendary soldier created for the sole purpose being the best soldier and because he is a clone he ages a lot more rapidly and he finds out he’s real sick due to some nanomachines in him. Yes i know it sounds like shit on paper but really, it’s how the game presents it. Throught the whole game’s cut scenes Solid Snake is coughing his freaking ass off but he still smokes like the bad ass muthafucker he is. If you crouch too long in the game, his back actually aches. Picture your grandfather in an eye patch and bandana and you get Solid Snake. So by the end of the game, he is on the brink of death and the thing that is in between him and saving the world is the big hallway of microwaves. So you have to get him across and while that is happening, shit is hitting the fan and spreading feces all around the world. Soldiers dying, The US army is losing the world is literally crumbling. Their fate all rests on that sick sick old soldier crawling through a tunnel full of microwaves. Of course that isn’t the end of the game, after that he still has to face his twin brother in real violent fist fight on top of a battleship. That’s his life for you. By the way, if you’re wondering why Raiden has no arms, let it be known that he lost them in the most badass way ever. One arm was lost because he had to cut it off as it was pinned under a huge boulder and he lost the other arm by literally holding back A GIGANTIC BATTLESHIP the size of goddamn Titanic. (you guys can find the vid yourself)

Those are not the only epic moments in games but these are the most epic in my eyes. ok now im exhausted and I would really appreciate what you all think of the first official article and i hope you enjoyed this. Honestly, I dont.
